A Friendly Place to Family Travelers : Mabijeong Mural Village, Daegu

It's a time when the temperature drops sharply in a day and the body begins to shrink. Today, I would like to introduce Mabijeong Mural Village, a tourist destination in Daegu that is good to visit with children before the temperature drops further.

Mabijeong Mural Village

This is Mabijeong Mural Village located in Dalseong-gun. It is a place where murals are painted of rural landscapes in the 60-70s, and various rural experiences and traditional foods are prepared as well as murals.

Mabijeong Mural Village is a small mural village located along Cheonnaecheon Stream from Hwawon Station. There is a parking lot at the entrance of the village, so it is easy to park, and there is a Mabijeong Mural Village stop opposite the parking lot, so you can take Dalseong 2 bus. If you take Dalseong 2 bus for about 25 minutes, you will also find Hwawon Station on Line 1.

As you walk uphill past the entrance of the village, you will see large and small Jangseungs. Beyond the wall where Jangseungs stand side by side, there is a Jangseung Sotdae workshop, where you can experience bamboo wish hangings, and experience making Sotdae.

If you go up a little further, you will find a two-pronged road. If you go to the right, you will find Nuri-gil, Turtle Rock, Old Well & Pavilion, and on the right are spinning wheels & lacquer trees, locks of love, rural experience exhibition halls, and Slowbo mailbox.

It is said that a sad legend is passed down here in Mabijeong. Once upon a time, a general said he would not survive if he climbed the mountain and shot a bow at a rock on the other side and went later than an arrow, but of course, the horse could not catch up with the arrow, and the villagers who saw it built a pavilion called "Mabijeong" to commemorate the horse. Perhaps that's why there are many murals and sculptures related to horses throughout the village.

Next to the lock of love, there were various photo zones such as trick art and liquor table sculpture. And beyond that, there is also a rural experience exhibition hall where you can enjoy various experiences and food such as noodles and injeolmi, a kind of Korean cake.

Mabijeong Mural Village, full of colorful murals, has many restaurants everywhere. If you go up the hill of the village, you will find a food shelter in Mabijeong, where you can taste a variety of traditional foods such as kalguksu (Korean noodle), sujebi (Korean-style pasta soup), handmade tofu, chives pancake, dongdongju, and makgeolli (traditional Korean alcohol drink).

Mabijeong Mural Village has appeared on various TV programs such as KBS Kim Young-chul's neighborhood tour, SBS Running Man, and SBS Live Today, so be sure to get permission if you enter your home, and do not throw trash or damage crops! It would be good to keep this in mind and have a good time.

Location: 259, Mabijeong-gil, Hwawon-eup, Dalseong-gun, Daegu Metropolitan City
