An Art Trip in Daegu, on a Shiny Spring Day

With the warm weather and the cool breeze, you could relax your mind to see various of artpieces. Today, we're heading to look for many art spaces that you could enjoy in Daegu!

-Suchang Youth Mansion (수창청춘맨숀)

The first place to show you is Suchang Youth Mansion, a retro-style exhibition hall, locates at Suchang-dong. Suchang Youth Mansion is a space that has been renovated into an exhibition hall and transformed old facilities into a cultural and artistic complex.

Suchang Youth Mansion, which was primarily organized by young artists, had works filled with youth and passion of their own, in everywhere.

Exhibition hall is divided into three sections — building A, B, and C — and consists of various concepts depending on the purpose of the usage, such as exhibition hall, rest area, and rooftop. If you're new here, you might be lost due to "strange" structure, so it'll be better to read a brochure.

If you enter the entrance of Building A, or A-dong, you would find Mansion Salon — an unmanned cafe with emotionable atmosphere, on the left. There is an artbook cafe on the other side. You might read books (admission free, of course), or have coffee or tea, just KRW 1,000!

Building A and B are composed of exhibition halls (apart from the first floor of A-dong, where Mansion Salon is located). Various comprehensive artworks, such as media art, music, dance, and performance are shown in the space. Those performance and exhibitions are closely related to "youth art" actions.

Building C, locates between Building A and B, has a little bit different interior for each floor. For instance, the second floor consists of a rest area, and the third floor, which is the top of the building, has an glamorous view.

On the other hand, there's severaI participating programs for visitors, so I recommend you to enjooy various cultural experiences at the exhibition hall, Suchang Youth Mansion, with your friends, somedays.

Address: 27, 22-gil Dalseongno, Jung-gu, Daegu
Hours: 10:00 ~ 19:00 / Closed on Mondays

-Ongijongi Happy Village (옹기종기 행복 마을)

I would love to introduce a mural town, so called "an art museum on the street," named Ongijongi Happy Village.

As you walk along the second standing bridge, you would see the Ongijongi Happy Village, which is colored in various colors, as you walk along the second Ipseokgyo bridge, as if a river flows on bothsides and a rose vine formed a beautiful tunnel.

Ongijongi Happy Village is a village that has been painted with colorful paints on the side part of "Daegu Line" railway, which was closed in May 2008. On t he floor of the trail along the "rose tunnel," you could see several murals about the train tracks that reminds of the old Daegu Line.

There were various kinds of murals in Ongijongi Happy Village, from cute ones to lively pictures just like the real shootings. Murals containing memories that could sympathize with many generations, such as classic phones and junk food in the past, that have really, really old-fashioned looks! It is a places that you could visit with your friends or families.

Ongijongi Happy Village is a tourism attraction but also a real town that residents are living, so you need to behave and be quiet to look around when you're in the place.

Address: 932-15 Ipseo-dong, Dong-gu, Daegu

Today I looked around some places worth to visit, with various artworks! You might feel much better and nicer when you're accompany with good people in mind — so what about spending valuable moments with your families, friends or partner? There are a lot more artistic places in Daegu. Be our guest, some other fine days!
