Dalseong Park

We are going to start off at Dalseong Park, which is one of the most famous parks among Daegu people. Anyone who grew up in Daegu has visited there at least once for a elementary school picnicJ It is also one of a few zoos in Daegu where we can meet our friends living on the same planet! From tiger and elephant to eagle and seal, there are different types of animals inhabiting there. In fact, one of the best charms of Dalseong Park is, as you can infer from the name, its vast area of green lawn and forest-like atmosphere. This place is not only relaxing but also historical. It used to be a part of forte way back in Samhan period. In 1965, Daegu Metropolitan City renovated the area into a park place. There are many benches placed here and there so if you and your friend love hanging out in a low-key way. This is a place to visit!

Donseongro Café Street

If you have been following us on our blog or facebook, you are probably well aware that Daegu is a city for coffee. There are many specialized streets for cafes such as Palgongsan Café Street and Kimgwangseok Café Street. Since we are going to explore the core of urban Daegu, let’s hit the Dongseongro Café Street today! After spending a nice morning at Dalseong Park, we need a nice brunch, coffee and even dessert! We have more adventures to come so let’s feed our stomachs right ;)

“Modern Cultural Street” Tour

One of the greatest ways to tour Daegu is take a course from Daegu Street Tour. We are going to take #2 course “Modern Cultural Street” to start off from the café street. This course includes a number of hot spots in downtown from Cheongna Hill, Jeil Church, 3.1 Independence Movement St, Old Lee Sang Hwa’s House and Yangryeongsi Museum, and more! We are actually going to start form the last destination and follow along the trail! Another fun part of this tour is getting stamps down on Daegu Stamp Trail Tour booklet. Or simply stamp on your personal journal to mark your memory. One place I want you to check is Cheongna Hill where you can feel a hint of old Daegu and where Museum of Medical Missionary Works is located. The museum is composed of a few houses where missionaries and Gyesan school president used to live in the early 1900s. Now, it displays items of missionary and medical works. Around the area looks beautiful as if it were somewhere from a fairy tale!

KimGwangSeok St.

One of the beloved musician, KimGwangSeok was raised in Daebongdong when he was a little kid. His unique and sentimental voice was unheard of at the time and even now. People of younger generations have learnt him from a remaked song by IU. Many got to know his name through a famous street “KimGwangSeok St.”  This street was created in 2009 to commemorate his life and music. You don’t need to be his fan to love the street. When you come here, you will enjoy lovely mural art and little shops located along the way. When your artistic spirit was pumped up and feel like having some alcohol with your friend, Bancheon market is right next to it! But don’t settle here forever since we have one last destination to go!

Here we are at Seomun Night Market! Seomun Market is always fun at whichever hour you visit here! There are just so many shops to look around. Especially, this place comes in handy for foodies where you can try a bit of a handful of treats. At night, there are more food to eat at Night Market! We explored a good amount of Daegu and now it’s time for a feast! Welcome to Daegu and hope to see you again for another day! XOXO
