Daegu Travel 2nd Famtour “Let’s Enjoy Autumn”

What makes Daegu Travel special is our citizen reporters who share what they explore in Daegu. To express our gratitude, Daegu Travel Management team planned our 2nd tour around beautiful Dalseong-gun area!

Before we dived into the beauty of Daelseong-gu, we met at Daegu Hyangchon Handmade Shoes Center, which opened in last summer. Here you can learn history of Daegu handmade shoes and also make your own leather items such as a card wallet. Instruction is offered free and you only need to pay for material. The wallet below cost 5,000won and it took less than an hour to finish it!

When we arrived at Inheung Village, where descendants of “Moon” family moved to Daegu to settle down 500 years ago. There are more than 70 hanoks are located here now to create a peaceful yet stunning residential complex of traditional houses. A beauty of Dalseong-gun truly lies in a number of traditional villages that carries history, culture and tradition throughout generations.

As we are in the area, we needed to check out “Hyungpung Park Sosun Halmae Gomtang”, the original Hyunpung Gomtang. It’s a soup with boiled beef that is loved by Koreans as it is a food to rejuvenate your energy. The gomtang tastes even more delicious as we chatted and caught up with each other.

Off to Hanhwondang Gotak, we had drinks in a hanok house with touch of modern café style.

The excitements continued to Guji Auto Campsite, where we would spend the night in caravans. The caravans here were neatly taken care of. There were also facilities like shower and cooking rooms. It seemed like it was the it-place for kids since they were skateboarding, riding bikes and playing with balls until they went to sleep. You can rent all those things at the site!

Early in the morning, we rode an electronic mini bus to go up to Biseulsan. This convenient ride took us to a stop at the top where we could walk to the Raionfall Radar Observatory by 10min of walk. That walk uphill was all worthwhile when we saw this stunning view! The temple you see in the picture is Daegyunsa Temple, which took another 15 min to reach.

In the lunchtime, we arrived at Hwawon Dongsan where Samunjin Ferry is located. Here at Samunjin Tavern Village, you can treat yourself a nice meal like gukbab(spicy beef soup), steamed tofu or a deep-fried pajeon. You can also ride a electronic duck car to go up to a observatory while looking around the dongsan in one ride! From the observatory, try finding the Arc, which is actually our last destination!

One of the highlights of the famtour was that we rode a boat to get to the Arc! It is about 10 – 15 min ride over Geunho River. Welcome to the Arc and enjoy what it has to offer!
