Autumn In Daegu Arboretum

Daegu Arboretum is full of surprising things. For one, there is a huge forest in Daegokdong that is filled with apartments. It is over 246,000 square meters in size. This place was originally a landfill. About 7 meters of soil was produced in the process of subway construction, and in May 2002 it became the nation’s first arboretum. It has about 1,750 species of plants, 45,000 kinds, and 60,000 trees form a dense forest.

To the right of the entrance are broad leaf trees. Harlequin glory bower, zelkova, maple, ash tree, birch and other trees are ready to change their fall clothes. As you walk through the broad leaf trees, you can see the Marsh Eco Park. With the big Marsh Eco Park in the background, the landscape is like a scene from Alice in Wonderland.

You can see a vast lawn plaza after passing the Marsh Eco Park. The Chrysanthemum festival was in full swing in the lawn plaza. About 10,000 mums and a variety of sculptures created a beautiful combination. After passing the plaza, you can see a forest full of lager stroemia, beautyberry and other kinds of chrysanthemums. Next to the chrysanthemum plaza and the forest is a deck road and not many know that this road is filled with baby maple leaves. Baby maple leaves change in color later than the other trees so this place is a good spot for people who missed the fall leaves and want to see them.
