Korea’s summers are hot and humid but there are lots of different ways to soothe your heat stroke during traveling in summer. One of the ways is having a cold and revitalizing drink! Daegu Travel would like to introduce some Korean seasonal drinks and desserts to cool you down during a summer trip!

Patbingsu (Shaved ice with sweet red beans and fruit)

Patbingsu is one of the most popular summer desserts in South Korea. It looks like a huge snow mountain in a bowl decorated with fruits and sweet red beans as a base. Mostly dessert cafes in Korea make their own style of patbingsu with different toppings.

• Shark Bingsu at Café Blue Comma : 138-18, Pa-dong, Suseong-gu, Daegu, Korea
• Pineapple Bingsu at Café Sugar Pumpkin : 282-2, Samdeok-dong 2-ga, Jung-gu, Daegu, Korea
• Melon Bingsu at Café Coffee U : 1554-4, Sangin 3-dong, Dalseo-gu, Daegu, Korea
• Pumpkin Bingsu at Café Mu-a : 38-1, Jong-ro, Jung-gu, Daegu, Korea

  Sikhye (Korean rice juice)

Sikhye(also occasionally termed Dansul or Gamju) is a cold rice drink made from malt water and rice fermented. You can usually get a sweet, icy glass of sikhye at local markets. The best moment to get it is after heat therapy at saunas or jjimjilbang). It quenches thirst and wakes you up from the languor of the hot tubs.
