Lanterns Dongadaesa Temple

Dongdaesa is a Buddhist temple, that it is famous in Daegu for the lanterns festival that is lit on Buddha's birthday every year. This year it was on the 14th of May. 




It is a colorful event where lanterns are lit to celebrate the Buddhist tradition Lanterns colors are red, green, purple and yellow. Colors are associated with tranquility, ascension, the infinite, purity, and healing. Over all, it is accurate to say that colors represent wisdom and compassion.




In the park there is a lake which is also illuminated by lotus-shaped lanterns. 

On the site you can see various types of lanterns and floats shaped like dragons. The floats are very well designed, in fact, the dragons spit fire and smoke, and also they change color over time.



The lake is surrounded by the lanterns of various colors. In the middle of it there is a huge lotus shaped-lantern.



Local families provide some snacks and rice drinks to all visitors. Also it is possible to buy traditional temple food. So you can have a seat in one of the tents that are provided to enjoy a relax time good friends, to get the most out of your experience at this peaceful scenery we recommend to bring a tripod to take some long exposure photos so you can capture the lights.

Gyodong Night Market's Local Street Food



Local snacks can be enjoyed in Gyodong Night Market. In Daegu you are never far from delicious street eats to satisfy any munchies. Stalls and vendors display their food to the hundreds of hungry guest– both tourists and locals – that descend on the scene ready to try the tasty treats. 
This specific street is not far away from two subway stations, Jungangro (red line) and Banwoldang (green line & red line), walking from either one just would take around 10 minutes or so. 



The food is delicious and the place is ideal to spend the afternoon with friends tasting typical food, all along the street you can enjoy different dishes, it is even possible to try fusion food. Most of the foods can be classed as both finger food and fast food, but don’t be mistaken the flavor is great.




On this street you can find skewers of grilled chicken, sausage pancakes, meat sushi and spicy noodles among other delicious dishes. 





Prices are generally reasonable the average price goes from ₩2.500 to ₩5.000.
