1. Choi Yong Seok’s Sweet Melonppang

Choi Yong Seok’s Sweet Melonppang near Myeongduk Station is one of the famous bakeries in Daegu. It is located 3 min walk from the exit 2 of Myeongduk Station so you can get to the bakery by monorail(subway line 3) or subway line 2 easily.
This bakery is also famous and popular in Japan. It is called ‘Japan’s representative bread’ because it is beloved by many Japanese people over 100 years.



The bakery has maple melonppang, coconut melonppang, soboro melonppang and more served at reasonable prices. The price range is 1,000won to 3,000won per bun.
The most buns are named ‘melon’ because the buns look like a melon. 
They usually open from 7:00am to 19:30pm but the buns can be sold out earlier. You should visit here in early morning.

2. Geundae Golmok Danpatppang 

In Yakjeon Street of Daegu, you can find the sweet redbean buns of Geundae Golmok Danpatppang! Danpatppang means sweet redbean bun in Korean.
There are so many people missing the taste of the sweet redbean buns that they used to eat with milk during the 1960s and 1970s. This is why many sweet redbean bun stores are opening recently in Korea. 



The bakery’s breads are mostly buns with red bean paste, including Redbean bun with cream, Redbean bun with green tea cream, Vegetables bun, and Soboro bun with red bean. The price range is 2,000won to 3,000won per bun.

3. Bbang-jangsu Danpatppang

Bbang-jangsu is also famous for sweet redbean bun. 
There are several breads, including green tea cream cheese bun, corn cream bun, redbean bun, cream redbean bun, and Sweet potato filled bun. This bakery is where you can taste fresh bread everyday as their breads undergo 72 hours of low-temperature ripening to deepen the flavor.
They have many stores in Daegu. As such, they are easily accessible since there are already three stores near Dongseongro - the center of Daegu.

4. Banwoldang Croquette

Do you like croquettes?
If so, you should visit Banwoldang Croquette which is known for specializing in croquettes.
This croquette store offers various croquettes, including Curry croquette, Egg croquette, Cheese potato croquette, and Sweet pumpkin croquette. 




The croquettes can easily be sold out early since the bakery sells only a fixed amount per day in order to maintain their freshness.

5. Gachang Jjinppang Street 


Gachang, a suburb of Daegu is famous for Gachang Jjinppang. 
You’ll see an array of steamed bun stores lining up all the way to Gachang Spa Valley. This Gachang Jjinppang street had been featured in TV shows, newspapers, and magazines several times making it famous nationwide.



Jjinppang is a steamed bun stuffed with sweet red bean paste.
You will also can try Mandu(dumplings) made by hand not only jjinppang(steamed buns) in the street. 



The main menu items are Jjinppang, Wangmandu(big dumpling), Jjinmandu(steamed dumpling), and Kimchi mandu(Kimchi dumpling). The Jjinppang and Wangmandu is usually 3,000 per five pieces.

6. Samsong Bbangjip

Samsong Bbangjip(bakery) which used to be called Samsong Bakery has changed their store’s name recently.
This particular bakery has a very long history since its foundation in 1957. It is so famous that everyone knows about their ‘Mayakppang(addictive corn breads)’.



The main items here are mayakppang and cream cheese chewy bun, Vegetables croquette, and Korean native cattle croquette. They are not fried with oil but baked with a weak fire.
