Meeting pieces of photographers from 31 countries in Daegu! Opening of Daegu Photo Biennale

It can be considered as public art genre

Daegu is doing an important role that can’t be omitted in photo history of Korea.

[History of Daegu Photos]
Year 1905, after photo was first introduced to Daegu in 1945, Daegu is the city that has raised remaining record in photo history of Korea by holding Korea’s first international photo exhibition, establishing Korean Photo Art Professional Academy in 1947 etc.

Starting from 1970s photographers from Daegu were the most active in nation’s photography contest and international photo exhibition and after ‘80s it was known as central city of photography culture as Daegu local colleges established Photography course and produced professional graduates.

To continue this historical fact, Photo Biennale is held in Daegu starting from 2006. And since Sept. 15, the 5th Daegu Photo Biennale 2014 exhibition started!

In Daegu Photo Biennale 2014, pieces of Korea’s representing artists, of course, and pieces of photographer who are active in different areas of world such as Central and South America, Africa, Australia, etc. are there!
