This municipal arboretum is recognized as a good model for restoring a seriously damaged ecosystem. This site was as a sanitary landfill from 1986 through 1990. In efforts to restore this area, the city government constructed botanical gardens that include more than 1,000 species of unique plants. Visitors to the arboretum can enjoy its gardens, which contain giant cactuses, medicinal herbs, wild flowers, and potted plants. Ponds with aquatic lives and groves with various kinds of trees are another attraction. In addition, the arboretum offers several trail routes and has large grassed areas, which are great advantages for having a picnic or just relaxing, as well as exploring plants.

Inheungseowon is the place where you can see Myeongsimbogam, a book traditionally used for a way of home education in some Asian Countries. You can guess how students studied and lived in those days by watching traditional lecture halls and student housings. You can also see one of the Korean traditional shrines as well.

Day Trip in Daegu _ 3. Nampyeong Moon Clan's Original Residence


Nampyeong Moon Clan's Original Residence is a traditional village that has been preserved for more than 200 years. The 18th generation grandson of a renowned Korean Moon Ik-jeom, who initially introduced the cottonseed to Korea from China in the 15th century, Moon Gyeong-ho set up this village. The representative buildings of this village include Gwanggeodang Lecture Hall, Subongjeongsa Pavilion and Insumungo Library. Insumungo Library has a study, stack rooms, and contains about 10,000 volumes of valuable books that are quite old from Korea and from abroad.

Hwawon Resort is the ideal place located at the base of Biseulsan Mountain to enjoy a vacation. Day Trip in Daegu _ 5. Mabijeong Mural Village


Mabijeong Mural Village was designated as a tourism village famous for murals on each constructures in the village. You can experience daily lives of Korea in 1960 to 1980s through the murals and traditional household items dangled from the wall paintings. The items and painting will give you Trick Art experience when you take a picture with them. A special prayer tree called Yeonrimok is another special attraction that you shouldn’t miss in the village.
