Hangchon-dong Handmade Shoes Street

Daegu has many alleys that has specific themes such as Deulangil food alley, Dakddongjib(fried chicken gizzard) alley, Galbijjim(spicy ribs) alley, Café alley, Cell phone shop alley, furniture alley etc.

Today, I’d like to present Hyangchon-dong handmade shoes alley in Daegu to our readers~~

Hyangchon-dong used to be adult entertainment district until 1960s.
Hyangchon-dong Street was kind of a hot spot for artists and young people where old fashioned coffee shops and bars were lining.
However, from 1970s, it gradually started to have couture houses and handmade shoes shops.

Now, Hyangchon-dong 300m long alley has handmade shoes shops, shoe factory, and materials shops.
You can hear pounding and pattering sounds of shoes making when you walk around here.

This guy has been making shoes for more than 40 years.

These handmade shoes prices are relatively cheap which are from 50,000won to 100,000won.

Some of the handmade shoes from Hyangchon-dong are delivered to Daegu department stores.
I tried some of them and they were really comfortable.
Mostly new shoes scrape the skin off my heels but the shoes I bought in Hyangchon-dong are different. Very comfy!! ^^

It always feels great to wear shiny new shoes~~(If the shoes are not pinching me at the heels^^)
Come get a pair of handmade shoes in Hyangchon-dong~~ :D
