Winter trip in Korea with an unlimited train pass ‘Rail-Ro’

We have good news for backpackers who are planning Korea travel. 

Korail offers the unlimited train tickets to young adults, under 25 years of age, every winter and summer. Unlimited train passes ‘Rail-ro’ for this winter will be sold during the peak travel season from November to February. Ticket holders can use any non-express rail service and may occupy standing or first-come seats available on that day.

The 2015 winter Rail-ro pass sales start on November 25 and will stay open until February 29, 2016. Tickets can be purchased at any train station across Korea, and the ticket issued is available until March 6, 2016. Those who wish to purchase Rail-Ro passes are required to present an ID card (passport).

2015 Winter Train Pass ‘Rail-Ro’ Information

☞ Ticket Sales : November 25, 2015 to February 29, 2016
☞ Operating period : December 1, 2015 to March 6, 2016
☞ Eligibility : Anyone under 25 years of age
☞ Ticket type : 5-day pass(56,500won) / 7-day pass(62,700won) / 3-day Family pass for 3 persons(120,000won) / 3-day Family pass for 4 persons(140,000won)
☞ Purchase : LetsKorail website, all stations in Korea
☞ Available trains 
 ITX–Cheongchun, ITX-Saemaeul, Saemaul-ho, Nuri-ro, Mugunghwa and commuter trains for standing and ‘first-come’ seats.
 *Discount offered if seats are reserved: two times per passenger 
 (available for one-way trip only)
 1) Discounts for regular trains on weekdays (Mondays through Fridays)
 2) Discounts for tourism trains (O-train, V-train, DMZ-train)
 (available for the entire operating period except on national holidays)
